Winding down the first startup

We have made a decision to bring down the first startup - animation making services. The entry into this business was very spontaneous and without much thought. We wanted to start something... because we had no amazing ideas to pursue. We were running after acquiring companies, first through the search fund model and then through the fundless model. We saw an animation company for sale, thought about buying it and decided to duplicate it when it was clear that it could be duplicated and buying would be fruitless. At the time, it made sense to do something instead of just sitting on our asses waiting for an idea and we are glad we did. We did not make hell lot of money but gained a lot of confidence since it was the first time we made sales and earned money directly.

The reason for winding down the startup are only two 1. services are not scalable and 2. we made a model to turn it into a fiverr like semi-scalable business but even if we succeed in doing that, at the end reward is not anywhere close to our commitment. However, we are not yet putting a full stop to this startup. We have projects running and there are couple of ideas that might still turn it into scalable startup. So there is that.
